Accsys, the world’s leading supplier of premium, high performance and sustainable wood building materials, has announced that following the previous successful testing with Accoya wood, Accoya Color wood ¾-inch tongue and groove (T&G) siding used in an exterior wall assembly has met Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) requirements in the USA.
The Wildland–Urban Interface (WUI) refers to areas in the United States where homes, businesses, and other development meet or intermingle with undeveloped wildland vegetation such as forests, grasslands, or shrublands. These regions are especially vulnerable to wildfires, as human activity and flammable natural fuels exist in close proximity.
Accoya Color wood siding was independently tested by ICC NTA within a specific wall assembly and met the wall criteria under ASTM E2707-22, which assesses fire penetration of exterior wall assemblies using the 10-minute direct flame exposure. The exterior wall assembly can be used for new buildings in WUI areas or any Fire Hazard Severity Zone within State Responsibility Areas.

Separately, in California, following Accoya wood’s successful compliance with WUI requirements, an Accoya assembly wall has been granted a listing in the Building Materials Listing (BML) of the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM). Accsys will also pursue this listing for a similar wall from Accoya Color.
