Environment and Climate Change
At Accsys, we are committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our operations and amplifying the positive impact our products have on the planet. Our wood products naturally capture and store atmospheric carbon, and by extending the lifespan of fast-growing softwood, we contribute to long-term carbon sequestration. We publish Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions annually, using this data to inform our sustainability strategy and engage stakeholders meaningfully.
In December 2025, we announced our energy and climate targets, outlining the actions we will be taking towards emissions reduction, including our ambition to Net Zero by 2050. Our climate strategy integrates operational efficiency, renewable energy sourcing, and continuous improvement in emissions monitoring. In the short-term we will focus on engagement and education, such as our employee energy and climate change training, to embed climate-conscious decision making across the whole organisation. This is crucial for our mid-term target of a 20% reduction in our Scope 1 & 2 emissions intensity per m³ (market-based) at our Arnhem site by the end of FY30.
The Net Zero Committee, comprising members of our Executive Committee, meets regularly to oversee our decarbonisation and the sustainability roadmap, ensuring that we remain on track.
In FY25, 65% of Accsys’ electricity consumption came from renewable sources (inclusive of market-based instruments). By the end of FY27 our target is to increase the use of green electricity to 100%, achieved through a combination of grid and market-based instruments.

Responsible Sourcing
As a supplier of wood materials, Accsys takes responsibility for ensuring that our raw materials are sourced responsibly, protecting biodiversity and reducing environmental impact. We are committed to maintaining that 100% of wood used to manufacture our products is sourced from certified sustainable wood sources (through FSC® (C012330), PEFC, or equivalent) and will only work with suppliers that can meet these standards. Through this, Accsys is able to reduce our impact through FSC’s work to reduce land use change and resource exploitation, and ensure high human rights standards.
Additionally, carbon footprint remains an important factor in our acetyls procurement, and we will continue to engage with our suppliers on the topic of decarbonisation to support our efforts towards net zero.
Biodiversity
Through our work on responsible sourcing, Accsys is able to maintain our target to support no net deforestation and continue to protect biodiversity into 2026 and thereafter. Continued work to source FSC® certified wood supports our efforts to reduce our impact on nature, working with responsible suppliers who protect biodiversity and meet high standards for forest conservation.
We have also conducted a Biodiversity Risk Assessment, using the WWF Biodiversity Risk Filter to identify and assess biodiversity risks. We commit to keeping this assessment updated, with a review every three years.
Waste, Water & Packaging
At Accsys, we take a proactive and responsible approach to waste management across all our production sites. We are committed to minimising waste, maximising recycling, and diverting materials from landfill wherever possible and plan to review our waste operations and identify reduction opportunities where possible. A key part of our R&D and innovation processes explore opportunities to advance our product value proposition, minimise waste and optimise packaging.
Waste is sorted into hazardous and non-hazardous streams, with hazardous materials disposed of in full compliance with local environmental regulations and audit requirements.
While we do not operate in water stressed regions, careful use of water is a key consideration. Most of our water use in production is used for cooling, where surface water goes through a closed-loop system and is returned to the river without being subject to contamination. Additionally, at our site in Barry, rainfall is harvested for use in the production process. Low maintenance during use phase and our Cradle to Cradle® Gold status illustrates our water and soil stewardship through production.
Where possible, Accsys aims to minimise the use of packaging. In December 2023 we switched our packaging for Accoya Color to be a fully recyclable.

Sustainable and Quality Products
Our acetylated wood products offer alternative, sustainable new materials that resolve many of the environmental limitations that commonly used building materials have, without compromising on performance.

Environmental Product Declaration
We are committed to maintaining an updated Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The EPD plays a vital role in providing transparency on the environmental impact across the entire product lifecycle. This data also acts as a useful tool for identifying where we can improve. We continue to focus on making our products as sustainable as possible, using resource-efficient manufacturing processes and increasing the use of renewable energy, to further meet the growing demand for low-carbon products
Ecolabels
Accoya® wood is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope – V3.1 – Gold. As part of that certification, our supply chain, production processes and procedures have been examined and scored on categories including: Material Health (Platinum), Material Reutilisation (Gold), Renewable Energy & Carbon Management (Gold), Water Stewardship (Gold) and Social Fairness (Gold).
Accsys is committed to ensuring all its wood products are free of hazardous substances and non-toxic. All products currently are. The ingredients of our products can be seen in our DECLARE label and we also have a REACH exempt statement for Accoya, Accoya Color and Tricoya.

Carbon Storage
Our products offer exceptional longevity, reducing maintenance, resources use, and associated emissions across the product lifecycle, whilst locking carbon away for longer. By using fast growing softwood species, such as Radiata Pine, larger amounts of carbon is sequestered over the lifetime of Accoya® wood’s 50 year warranty.
Offcuts Program
One of our flagship initiatives is the Accoya Offcuts Reclamation Programme, a closed-loop system that collects unused Accoya wood from manufacturers and joineries. These offcuts undergo rigorous quality checks before being recycled into Tricoya®, our high-performance panel product. Since inception in 2022, the programme has collected over 1,000m³ of Accoya offcuts for reuse in Tricoya. These offcuts are locking in 820 tonnes of CO2 eq., which is roughly equal to 92,000 litres of petrol consumed.

Quality
We are committed to working to the highest quality standards. Our Arnhem site proudly holds ISO-9001 Certificate reflecting our dedication to delivering excellence in every product and process. This internationally recognised benchmark confirms that our systems are built for consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement.
