Climate change
At Accsys, we are committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our operations and amplifying the positive impact our products have on the planet. Our wood products naturally capture and store atmospheric carbon, and by extending the lifespan of fast-growing softwood, we contribute to long-term carbon sequestration.
Our climate strategy integrates operational efficiency, renewable energy sourcing, and continuous improvement in emissions monitoring. The Net Zero Committe, comprising members of our Executive Committe, meets regularly to oversee our decarbonisation and sustainability roadmap. We publish Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions annually, using this data to inform our sustainability strategy and engage stakeholders meaningfully.
In FY25, 65% of Accsys’ electricity consumption came from renewable sources (inclusive of market-based instruments), and we remain committed to increasing this proportion year on year.
Biodiversity
As the manufacturer of a biobased product we are extremely mindful of our impact on biodiversity. Accsys is committed to sourcing all wood used to manufacture its products from FSC (C012330)® or PEFC certified sources to ensure zero deforestation, ensuring biodiversity risks are accounted for in the Company’s due diligence processes.
Waste management
At Accsys, we take a proactive and responsible approach to waste management across all our production sites. Waste is sorted into hazardous and non-hazardous streams, with hazardous materials disposed of in full compliance with local environmental regulations and audit requirements. We are committed to minimising waste, maximising recycling, and diverting materials from landfill wherever possible. Waste is an integral part of our R&D and innovation processes, where we explore opportunities to minimise waste and optimize packaging.
One of our flagship initiatives is the Accoya Offcuts Reclamation Programme, a closed-loop system that collects unused Accoya wood from manufacturers and joineries. These offcuts undergo rigorous quality checks before being recycled into Tricoya®, our high-performance panel product. Since inception in 2022, the programme has collected over 1,000m³ of Accoya offcuts for reuse in Tricoya. These offcuts are locking in 820 tonnes of CO2 eq., which is roughly equal to 92,000 litres of petrol consumed.
Water management
While we do not operate in water stressed regions, careful use of water is a key consideration. We recycle water where possible and use river water for our cooling process in Arnhem and Kingsport, returning the water to the river once used in a closed loop system. To minimise demands on municipal water at Barry we have rainwater collection and use this water to support our operations.
